Chill song of the day – Morcheeba – Slow Down
by ILS on Apr.21, 2010, under Blog
Slow Down by Morcheeba. Seriously chill… Stop whatever you were doing and listen to this song. If you’re thinking “is this Pink Floyd?” who can blame you. This song sets up such a nice atmosphere… super slick guitars of Ross Godfrey, Paul Godfrey drops the beat… enter Skye Edwards… nuff said. You’re gone!
I came across Morcheeba again in the late 90’s had read a review of Big Calm in the Gazette, happened to go to the record store (remember those?). Picked up Who Can You Trust? used? Seriously who would get rid of that album? I actually prefer it to Big Calm, but I’m probably the only one.
peace…
Chill song of the day – Kruder & Dorfmeister – Sofa Rockers
by ILS on Apr.17, 2010, under Blog
So today’s chill song is Kruder & Dorfmeister ’s Sofa Rockers. You can’t be a fan of chillout music if you don’t know the mighty K & D. The chillest of the chill. Discovered these guys back in the late 90’s. Pickup the Sessions Double Cd, and then the DJ Kicks series well worth checking out. I remember being @ HMV in downtown Montreal, with this cd in my hands & debating to myself whether to get it or not, after all it was $30. The guy beside me looked at me and said “hey man trust me get that cd, you won’t regret it”. Boy was he right. thanks man whoever you are. This album has continued to be an inspiration to me, and has influenced my music forever.
peace for now …
Chill Song of the day
by ILS on Mar.17, 2010, under Blog
Pink Floyd are The Kings (according to me) I absolutely love them and always have. Notably Pink Floyd’s Keep Talking for a special reason. Released in 1994, it was the groups 3 #1 hit on Billboards Album Rock Tracks Chart. Surprising for such an influential band. Then again Billboard measure radio play and not album sales. I mean they sell out stadiums. Also this songs has the famous Stephen Hawking sample talking throughout
This is one of those songs that I had such an amazing experience with when I played in a band. At the time we played Progressive Rock and i think we were all afraid to play this song at first because it was slow, and slow songs are the toughest to pull off. The 1st time we played it, we were amazed at how much fun it was and how it came together. Fun Times.
David Gilmour is definitely my biggest influence, but for little me Pink Floyd was never about the individuals as much as the songs, vibe, and ideals. I remember hearing Pink Floyd as early as childhood, the baby sitters son was always playing those records. Pink Floyd is probably the single reason why I write Ambient Chillout music today.
Hope you enjoy! and Keep Talking!

Checkin out HMV
by ILS on Sep.06, 2009, under Blog
I know I was a little upset with HMV in my last post, but I decided to go check it out anyway. Sonia, Andie and I went downtown to checkout the Mega store. Apparently an employee of the Electronica section dug the CD enough to order or more copies, and offered a free listening post. Cool !!!
